- Southampton ACCEPT £12.5m Liverpool bid for England right-back Nathaniel Clyne!
SOUTHAMPTON have accepted an improved offer from Liverpool for Nathaniel Clyne and the England full-back will now become the Anfield club's sixth summer signing.
Clyne is currently away on holiday and Liverpool will wait until he returns to discuss personal terms and put the right-back through a stringent medical. Neither process is expected to be problematic.
Liverpool upped their original offer of £9million for Clyne, 24, to £10.5m with a further £2m paid depending on his progress.
Southampton accepted that deal having already purchased Clyne's replacement, Cedric Soares, from Sporting Lisbon last week for an initial £3.5m.
Clyne will become the fourth player to move from St Mary's to Anfield in 12 months when he follows Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren. Southampton have banked £60m from the sales.
The deal comes with Liverpool having recruited Brazilian international Roberto Firmino for £29m this week.
James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan and Joe Gomez have already been signed.
