Coronation Street's Jimi Mistry had 'no idea his character Kal Nazir would be killed off until shortly before filming explosive exit'
He is one of the most popular characters on Coronation Street.
But Jimi Mistry’s Kal Nazir shocked fans after he was killed off in a surprising new storyline on Thursday night's episode of the ITV soap.
The 42-year-old actor, who joined the cobbles as a local resident almost 18 months ago, revealed he wasn’t aware of his on-screen alter-ego’s fate until shortly before he filmed the final scenes.
‘I didn’t know at the beginning, it wasn’t something I discussed,’ he confessed. ‘But I came into the show to bring some drama and when the idea was pitched to me I thought it was fantastic, dramatic and part of Coronation Street history.
‘I have always done a lot of things in my career and always move on, I’ve had a fantastic time and to be a part of scenes like that was a great end to the character.
‘It was like being in an action movie and quite a way to die. I did share a tear watching it back,’ he continued.
